Welcome to Proverbial Caprines'
Home on the Web

Rhonda- and generations of Bennetts before her- grew up on the land we now live on, where her father raises angora goats. In the late 80's, he purchased Salt, a nubian, to foster twin angora kids. Salt had triplets- Timothy, Emily, and Spot by Cold Comfort Jamestown, then owned by Zia Capra. Emily gave birth to triplets as well, one of which was Anne. Our interest in dairy goats began in July of '93, when Rhonda's father purchased a young nubian buck, Caesar. We thought he was so beautiful that we wanted our own goat. So Anne became ours. Work caused us to move and have to leave her in Missouri, but by the time we returned in the summer of '98, she had increased our herd to three. Anne died in December of '98. We will always miss her.

Proverbial Caprines has been rather quiet in 2008. Like many of you, the rising prices of gas and grain have kept us from being able to continue the showing and feeding programs that we have used in the past. Our herd is a fourth of the size that it was in spring of 2007. But we choose to look at this as an opportunity to cut our herd down to only the very best and to take a little vacation from a hectic summer of showing.
